Why My Life Change?

People lose people every day of their life. But the day I lost my Grandma everything in my life changed.  When I came home from school at the age 13, my Mother, Daddy, and my sister where sitting in the living room waiting on me to come in. When I enter the house my brother grab me and my Daddy told me my Grandma die.  They knew when they told me this I was going to go crazy so that’s why they told me like this. After they told me this, my life changed forever.  I did four things I would never do if she was alive. The first thing I start to do is getting put out of school everyday, the second thing I start to do is fight a lot, the third thing I start to do is sell drugs, and the fourth and final thing I start to do is fail all my classes. The reason I start to do this is because these are the things she told me to never do.

When my grandma first passed I start to get put out of school a lot. My grandma always had a saying…. a dumb person would never be successful but a smart person would make it far in this life. She told me the only way to get smart is by going to school everyday. But when she died I did not want to go to school because it reminds me of what she used to always tell me.  I stopped going to school and started to run the streets getting myself in trouble.   I always felt why I should want to be smart if the main person that wanted me to be successful is not here on this earth. She is the one that kept me in school and kept me wanting to get an education.

When my Grandma pass the second thing I start to do a lot is getting in fights. The reason I did this is because every time somebody say something I don’t like or say “Your Grandma” I would end up fighting them. When she was alive you could talk about me all you want as long as you don’t put your hands on me. She always told me that a man would never want a girl that fight a lot but he would like a girl that treat herself like a lady. As the fighting was going on I start to get cut and I could not get a boyfriend because every time I find one I end up fighting then he would say I fight too much for him. So she was telling me this was going to happen before it happen.

When my Grandma was alive I would never hang out with my cousin, she didn’t allow it, because they all was selling drugs with they little friends. But when she died, I started to hang with them and when I start to hang with them they taught me how to sell drugs. Even though they use them, too,  I never did that because I looked at what they was doing with they money and I did not want to do that.

After me and my cousin got locked up together, the police told us if he see us again we will be locked up for a long time instead of the short time we was in there.  My cousin needed the money, so they didn’t stop.  But my Mother and my Daddy both had money, so I stop.  If my Grandma was alive I would never experience a day in jail for nothing.

The last and final thing I start to do is fail all my classes. When my Grandma was alive there was no failing. The reason you were not going to fail is because she will do everything to you.   She had five things she would make you do so you could think about what you did. The first thing was stand in the corner.  If you did whatever you did again she had something else for you. The next thing is you would have to hold your arms out until she tells you to leave the corner.   The next thing is you would hold some books in your hand until you leave the corner. The next thing is you would go get a belt. The last thing is you will watch all the kids while the parents go out. My Grandma had a baby day care but I would be able to get away from the kids until I got in trouble in school. The last thing she will tell you to help you stop failing is that your man do not want no girl friend who is dumb.

People always loved my Grandma because she cares about everybody and not only herself.  She did not care what you did as long as you go to school and get your education. Even though I did not live with my Grandma like the rest of my cousins and them, but she treated me and my sister better then anybody. The reason she did this was because she never had to make us listen by using a belt. But because of her I would not expect these things.   I love her and hope to she her in the future.
