The Birth of My Son

At 11: 25 am, Monday morning, on March 20, my son was born. The season is winter, it was very cold that day, I was young at the time. The birth of my son was very unique. My girlfriend had all types of needles put into her and she had to get an epidural in her back. My girlfriend had to do a lot of different positions in order to push the baby out.  He was born at was UIC Hospital with tall buildings all around, very small neighborhood and a lot of houses, very comfortable setting, not very crowded & small.

Some things that stand out in my memory are watching the doctors put the epidural in my girlfriend’s back, watching the baby actually come out, watching them pull out the placenta. When my son was born into this world, a sigh of relief came upon me and I was so happy, I started to cry and thank God that he finally came.

The most challenging to me was trying to calm my girlfriend down when she was having pains. She was just grabbing me and squeezing me and almost broke some of my bones. It seemed like she got stronger when she started feeling those pains.

During this significant event, I didn’t come to school for 3 days.  I lost work I had to do and I also lost hours on my job where I was working. I gained the knowledge to make sure I can be there for my son, no matter what the situation may be. I also realized that I have to take care of my responsibilities.

Let me introduce myself.   My personality and common gestures are basically having fun and mocking. The way I walk and what I believe in is I walk proudly and I believe in God. My strengths and weaknesses are taking care of my responsibilities, working hard , but I slack off and get very lazy at times. What makes me unique is my personality and my hair style is low-cut. My clothing style is baggy and what my friends admire about me most is my personality. My family finds me talking too much annoying to them. My likes and dislikes are girls, sports and wasting money, waiting on people. I admire my mother for her work ethics and also what makes me a leader is setting examples for others.

Let me introduce my mentor.  His personality is he is always smiling. His common gestures are bouncing his head up & down. What he believes in is that his father will always be there for him. What makes him unique is that he is not a cry-baby and his hair is low-cut. His clothing style is baggy so he can grow into them and what I admire about him is that he goes to everybody. I find that I can’t leave without him crying very annoying.

My parents challenged me on my heroic journey.   What they did to make it hard on me was let me do things on my own, and what they didn’t do was help me out on certain situations. The way this challenge made me a better person is that it taught me to become independent. Their strengths were to challenge me and their weaknesses was when they stopped challenging me. I figured out that they weren’t going to help me out to gain an advantage.
