Eighth Grade Graduation
Me. I would describe me as being quiet. I’m very noticeable. My common gesture would be my head leaning sideways and my arms folded. I walk funny as all of my friends would say. I am very superstitious. My best subjects are reading and math. My weakness is when people get on my nerves. I have a great ability to draw and for braiding hair. My family hates it when I’m right and they’re wrong. I believe in Jesus, and I admire my mom. I follow my own path, which makes me a leader and it makes me feel good.
It took a great deal of courage, because coming out of eighth grade wasn’t easy. I was on my way to high school. The most challenging part about it was that I had to work hard, I had to keep good grades, stay with a good behavior and have self-confidence. I knew I was going to graduate, I just had to believe in myself.
The graduation took place at Orr Community Academy
High School, the school I go to now. I was graduating from George W. Tilton Elementary School. It was at 11: 00am, early in the morning, and I was a year younger. I remember the smells of the delicious buffets after the graduation.
Oh, and the beautiful things that were standing out was my wonderful dresses and my lovely shoes. My graduation dress was light blue with flowers on it. My luncheon pinning dress was pink with a silk pink jacket that went with it. My ribbon pinning dress was the same but a different color, which was white. They were all new dresses, and all new shoes.
I won some rewards and lost some in fact. The best reward of all was my eighth grade diploma. I got it because I really earned it. I pushed myself hard enough to gain it. A little bit of my dignity was lost too. I knew I did good, but I kept doubting myself because it wasn’t my best.
I wish I had a mentor. My mentor would be the type that has a professional walk, the one that believes in the things I believe in. My mentor would have many abilities of talking and teaching to a person that really needs help. I hope she is very unique. I would love her hair if it was in many styles such as the bun. I would admire her ways and professionalism. I hope nothing about her annoys me. I want her to like the things I like. Lastly I want her to be a leader and to be happy about her accomplishments.
I have had many challengers. The most important ones were my teachers and counselors. They told me things that I really needed to know. I learned from mostly all my mistakes and listened to what I’ve been told by those different people. They told me that if I didn’t or wasn’t going to do what I was being told then I would have to face the consequences. That was their strength towards me. I later found out that they had good advice, even though it was hard to listen to them and do what I was told. I had to find the discipline to go along with what I was being taught and I had to have an open mind to get to where I was going.
