The Car Accident
It was the summer time, in August, it was sunny out, and I was 16 years old. I was driving in my car, and I was going through the intersection, on Blue Island and Racine, in this neighborhood named the village. This lady ran the red light and hit my car on the passenger side front door.
I remember the smells of unleaded gas and motor oil, I remember is the right side of my car after it was hit. I had to deal with my car being unable to start and move.
I had to build up the courage to play basketball again, and drive on the road without worrying about getting hit or getting into an accident.
I realized that life was too short to not live it to the fullest.
My coach was a big inspiration. He was a very cool mentor who helped me with a lot of things I needed help with, including finding the courage to get back on the basketball court.
At the same time he was there for me, he taught me the fundamentals of basketball. He helped me to stick better defense. He showed me how to dribble the basketball better; he helped me to more free throws.
My coach is a very cool individual, he has a hip-hop generation mentality, he once believed in going to the NBA, his strength is being an inspiration, his family is his weakness, his personality makes him unique, he have braids, he like to wear street clothes, his friends like his funniness, he got a habit of being on the phone, he likes basketball, he dislikes his baby’s mother, he believes in coaching, he admires Scottie Pippen, and he is a leader because he knows how to make a group of people laugh.
