One of the most challenging times in my life was when I had to change schools. The school I had transferred from was Morse Tech and I had to go to Morton Career Academy. I loved my old school.   It was very big and built with red bricks. This school had the most interesting clubs ever, like The Drama Club, Friendship Club and a whole lot more clubs.

But I was leaving because I was going to 7th grade and Morse only went up to 6th grade. I loved this school, especially my favorite teacher Mrs. Clark; she was the best. If you did something wrong she would make you hold dictionaries for five minutes without bending you knees. This made every one in our class behave like young adults.

The school classrooms were kind of small. But the school looked big on the outside. When the school was closing it was the summer time and the kids who had to go to summer school had to go to a nearby school and I was just turning thirteen years old. The classrooms had some kind of awkward smells to them. They smelled like a rat had died in them, but after a couple of hours it would smell normal again. The pictures that was on the wall was very pretty….. they would have pictures of kids from our school playing outside and some of the kids with their science projects.

While the school was closing down, I lost my best friend. She was very special to me. She was the only that really understood me. She always mad me feel good when I was feeling down. We said we would be best friends to the end and not anyone would change that. But it changed because she moved away and so did I. I stopped calling then she stop calling and that was the end of a beautiful relationship. But after losing her I realized I was spending more time with my little brother and I had gained more respect from him than I had before.

I loved that school but it was time for me to grow up and be a big girl and plus I was in a higher grade now. I had a lot more kids that were looking up to me. But it wasn’t what I had expected because the eighth graders were picking with the seventh graders because it was their last year. But they were playing with us except this one girl she was picking on me because everyone was telling her that I was really good at basketball. She was the best basketball player in the school. She challenged me and I accepted that, but she was very big and had great dribbling with the ball, but I found out I was faster than her so I used my speed and I won and she congratulated me and told me I was a great basketball player.
