Past, Present, Future

Well after a basketball game me and my brother was
Walking home.   I was only seven and it was getting late.
So my big brother drops me off at home. One hour later
I heard he was murdered.

Knowing I had no one to guide me as I grow up.
I started to grow up.  I started learning what not to
Get into. I was in control of my future I said. There
Was no way stopping me?

The building was big all down the road. Some of
The buildings were red and some of the buildings
Were brown. The neighborhood was bad all over
And the road was long.

The time of day was nighttime. The season was
Summer time the weather was hot everybody
Was hot. I was younger at the time it happens.
I wish that it never happen that was bad.

I remember the smell of candy I was eating
Pop corn while my big brother was drinking
A pop and eating ice cream. He waste some on
His shirt.

The trees were waving back and forth. The cars
Riding by real fast almost causing a car accident.
The police saw it and start cutting through the
Grass to chase the cars. Little kids chasing the ice
Cream truck.  These are the pictures and things
Stuck in my head

I lost my big brother
To gangs.  There was nothing no one could tell him
He was wild and out of conrtol.  Young and so dumb
I thought I’ll never survive with my brother.

I gained confidence enough to stay away from trouble
And out of trouble.  With my big brother gone I had
To learn the routes of the roads by myself.  I started
Up and got on my job in school.  I didn’t have to do drugs
Or go to violence.  My Mother took care of me
That’s what I lost
That’s what I gained

My Mom and my Family was going
through the same thing I was.  But
the difference was I lost everything I
was living for.

I believe living good gets good blessings.    My strengths
Are reading and street smarts and my weakness is math and always
In trouble with a girl.  My family finds my anger
Annoying.  I dislike haters and killers and my hero is my Mom

My Mom is my mentor, she is hardworking
and having fun.  My Mom walk straight and cool.  My Mom
believes in work and happiness.  Her strengths are smart and
her weakness is losing people she love.
