The Odysseus Mural
In the fall of 2006, a group of students began working after school to create a four-panel mural recreation of Romare Bearden’s Odysseus Collages. Bearden’s collages fuse the heroic imagery of the poet, Homer, with depictions of the African experience. The students’ murals are mosaics of cut glass fragments, glued to large wooden boards, which will then be mounted in the halls of EXCEL Academy.
