Hidden Feelings
There are a lot of kids suffering from depression. Some violence leads to depression. Some young kids don’t know how to show their feelings. Some just don’t have anybody to talk to.
Depression sometime starts at home or at school. How parents treat their kids or what they do around them really affects them. Even though they may not see right away, the kids are usually depressed.
Depression leads to violence and that’s how the cycle of violence start. The cycle of depression and violence is important to me because I could relate to a child being depressed because of a parent’s absence.
My dad being incarcerated made me feel depressed. I mostly hide my feelings. Even though I have my mother and other family members to talk to, I just chose not to talk. I don’t go out and create violence but some kids don’t know how to control their feelings. That’s a way they let go of their feelings, by engaging in violence. I think if a kid has somebody they can trust to talk to, it would stop a lot of violence.
